Cake for My Grandpa
Here is a cake I made tonight for my Grandpa. It is a 6 inch cake and 4 inches tall. Chocolate inside and a nice caramel filling. Covered in Buttercream Frosting and decorated with fondant stars and a little flare of orange piping. He is turning 79 tomorrow, I hope he likes it. Planning a field trip this weekend to this store, hoping to find some cool new things. home-cake-decorating-supply-co. I also received my new textbook on baking tonight and will also hope that I can begin to start to self teach myself some new techniques.

Chocolate Truffles (Spirited)

Tonight I took a Spirited Truffle class, it was taught by Bill Frederick (Chocolate Man) and Elizabeth Peckham. It was a very valuable class, Not only did I meet alot of great people which also shared the same interest I also learned that a good ganache should only consist of two things Heavy Cream and Chocolate, which most of the time mine does. I also learned about tempering chocolate.one of the best ones we made tonight was a Rum Truffle
8 oz Semisweet Chocolate
1/2 Cup Cream
3 T Spoons Dark Rum
if you want directions let me know and I will Email them to you.

Espresso caramel bars

Here is a recipe i got from food network, it is very easy to make just times a long time. There is three layers the bottom of graham crackers, sugar, butter and a hint of cinnamon. The middle is caramel made from brown sugar, cream butter. the top is chocolate made from chocolate, cream and espresso. sprinkled with grey sea salt. All boxed up in to clear 2x2 boxes and wrapped with pink and black curling ribbon. I hope the girls at work will enjoy it.
In Prep for the Month

Ok, SO what can i say cash and carry has become my newest best friend. I bought my largest bag of Sugar and Flour today. I also had to buy large buckets to put it in. Scoops were needed to. This month I have two cakes this week and two cakes later in the month. Also a bake sale for Breast Cancer. So let the baking begin!

January Birthday Cake for Work

This cake is 9" in diameter and was ordered by someone at my work. It is for a monthly Birthday celebration for about 6 people. I tend not to write on a cake if it is for a large group of people. The cake it's self is a double chocolate cake and then a nice raspberry filling. Plain buttercream frosting in white with fondant circles cut out and placed in random spots. It was a fun cake to make, the circles are in lime green and a mix of two blue, cornflower and teal. the circles range from 1/4" to 1". attached to the cake with just water to secure.

This is a cake I made for my friends daughter's 7th birthday. It was a castle cake using the Wilton's Castle pieces. The cake it's self is pink on the inside and pink on the outside with Blue trim. The cake on the bottom is square 9" and then 6" round on top. Filling is just butter cream frosting. Hope you enjoy.
